… a note about this series …
In March 2020 and at the peak of our cherished Jackson Hole ski season, the chairlifts stopped running and the slopes fell silent. As uncertainty swept over the world, the valley collectively hung up our proverbial ski boots and stayed home for one another: unprecedented when it comes to powder days, but completely in the character and spirit of our Jackson Hole community.
This will be a ski season I will always remember, not because it was cut short, but because of how our community has lifted each other up during this time. The efforts to support our healthcare workers, encourage our small businesses, and provide for those who are in need or cannot leave home have brought the Jackson Hole community closer together—even in a time of social distancing.
I hope that this special series of chairlift paintings (done in blue and green in gratitude for our healthcare workers) will uplift and encourage while we continue to support our local community (and the need for food support still is great).
And if one of these paintings still hangs in your powder room or hallway in the years to come, let it be a memory and inspiration for how we all came together and spent that ski season—and beyond—lifting up Jackson Hole.
yours truly,
Lacelliese King
