THE WEEK IN REVUE

Highlights that happened this week. Don’t worry, you’re not missing anything (now, that is).
1. Back-to-school means uniforms, but maybe not just for students, muses Ann Mashburn. I tend to agree, but is that just because I find myself wearing the same things over and over again?
2. I watched paint (samples) dry all week and gained a renewed appreciation for the value and expertise of architects and interior designers. There is a reason why paint color can be such a fiercely guarded trade secret, and this discussion at the Potted Boxwood has the best explanation on the subject that I’ve seen to date. Says Christina Dandar: “Those who use a designer pay for the value of their opinions, their sources, and their aesthetic. Other industries don’t readily share their strategies, yet we expect designers to divulge instantly.” The bad news? We still haven’t arrived at a paint color. The good news? They haven’t issued a restraining order against me at our local Benjamin Moore store… yet.
3. Not a huge fan. My husband had just lamented the fact that we have no fan in our bedroom, when the Wall Street Journal unleashed a hilarious piece in Off Duty’s Design & Decorating section about exactly that: the family politics of the fan. “Maybe in every lifelong marriage, there are things you agree not to agree on. But electric fan usage should not really rise to the level of irreconcilable difference,” Michelle Slatalla writes. He wants this one from Dyson, but so far I’m not convinced… Is it getting got in here, or is it just me?
4. On that note, yes, it’s still hot, but these ladies are so cool. Four of the chicest girls of summer I’m following on Instagram, here.
5. Fall shopping is here, but far be it from me to snub a late summer sale! I am loving absolutely everything Nicola Bathie lately, and I snapped up these adorable earrings… plus, many other fantastic styles still available!
Last but not least, welcome to so many new readers and Instagram followers who introduced themselves this week! I am grateful for your interest and time, and home this blog will be a source of inspiration, connection, and at times, comic relief, for you all. Thank you for being here — I am so delighted to have you!
Bon weekend!
