THE WEEK IN REVUE

Highlights that happened this week. Don’t worry, you’re not missing anything (now, that is).

1. (Re)proof that fall is here. It’s still too warm for anything heavier than a sundress here, but in anticipation of cooler days, I pulled out my Barbour coat to send it to the reproofer for a new layer of wax. A sure sign of the change of seasons (and New England Reproofers does a great job, by the way).

2. Do you mind if I cancel? Ah, fall… ‘tis the season of pumpkin spice, leaf piles, and bailing on prior standing commitments (so it seems). Apparently, it’s also a great time to release a book (maybe there’s a correlation), and there are several that I’ve pre-ordered, including Gary Janetti’s Do You Mind If I Cancel? I love anything that is wry, dry, witty, and royal, and while I might not always agree with his specific choice of words, Gary’s Instagram account is a rollicking good time that covers all of the above, and I have high hopes that his book will be equally entertaining.

3. Do I play favorites? I kicked off a new interview series this week with Nick and Molly Mele of A Social Life, and gained some much-needed photography tips from the 21st Century Slim Aarons himself.

4. Clearly this is a thing. I am soon attending an event where any handbag must be clear or smaller than the size of a hand, so I’m on the hunt for a stylish and functional option. Incidentally, I ordered this piece for my carryon bag this week, but would love any suggestions you have.

5. Labor Day sales always catch me off guard, and even though it means that my favorite time of year (ski season) is ahead, I’m not always ready to bid farewell to summer. But in the history of womankind, is there a woe that a little retail therapy can’t cure?
