THE WEEK IN REVUE

Highlights that happened this week. Don’t worry, you’re not missing anything (now, that is).
1. GRANDMILLENNIALS. This week, House Beautiful coined what is sure to be the new buzzword of 2019. “Grandmillennial” style is showing up throughout interior design and beyond, writes HB. Some favorite familiar faces quoted in the article include Amy Berry, Ariel Oken, Clary Bosbyshell, and Jessica Chaney of Lycette Designs. Trust me, put down your needlepoint for a second and go read it.
2. GET ME OUT OF HERE. When summer refuses to leave, I refuse to stay. I’m bidding farewell to Dallas for a while, and I rounded up a few of my favorite fall travel essentials that are coming with me.
3. DOWNING’S GONE TO THE DOGS. Britain’s self-proclaimed “Mouser-In-Chief” deemed the newest resident at Number 10 Downing Street a furry nuisance, and no, we’re not talking about Boris Johnson. As a hopeless Anglophile and animal lover, I keep up with cheeky Larry the Cat’s moggie musings on Instagram, and learned that he was less than impressed with the Prime Minister’s newly adopted Jack Russell Terrier. The New Yorker also has an amusing piece on what is sure to be an ongoing—erm, tail.
4. IS FALL THE TIME TO TURN OVER A NEW LEAF? This might end up as a separate post, but lately I’ve been thinking about changing up some habits and routines. Admittedly, I’m not much of a linear goal-setter and have never been one for New Year’s resolutions, but there’s something about the turn of seasons at autumn that feels like the right time to self-improve. (Like buying the $12 bottle of pinot noir instead of the $8 one, you know?) Actually, Caudalie founder Mathilde Thomas writes in The French Beauty Solution that fall can be a great time to shake up your wellness routine. The book is a few years old, but it’s one I return to time and again for all kinds of skin care insight and recipes. Plus, I love this toner and serum from the brand.
5. KEEP THE CHANGE. On that note, when you find a good thing, why change it up? The Chanel counter offered me a new mascara this week, so I asked the associate if I really should make the change from my tried-and-true Le Volume De Chanel. Her refreshing reply? “Honestly…I’d stick with what you’ve been using all along.” Don’t mess with my mascara or my needlepoint. Grandmillennial much?
Bon weekend!
